Topic: Abusers' list?
I wanted to put this out there to get some feedback from you guys. I was thinking on setting up a website where victims/survivors of violence can put up the names of their abusers so that other women can be warned about their violent behavior. This is intended to save the life of other women and also to put pressure on the abusers to get psychological help. What do you guys think?

Will a picture be linked to the names of the abusers? How will the abused women be protected in the event that the accused men find out somehow who posted their name on said site? What is to prevent someone from wrongfully accusing someone which gives cause for a case for slander/libel in the public domain?

Thanks for the feedback Zoe! I was thinking about something like the directory of sex-offenders in the neighbourhood. Maybe this is something I would have to talk to a lawyer...I would think that the website should include convicted abusers and /or the ones with a misdemenour or felony. I think that if women submit evidence from court we would have reliable information, which would be open to the public either way. I think that pictures would help... What do you think?

I think it's a noble idea. Maybe you need to work out the hitches with legal counsel- couldn't hurt...Good luck!

I like the idea but worry but agree that there are some pitfalls involved. If names were posted as a result of convictions instead of having victims/survivors of violence doing the posting, it would be safer. If legal counsel says it can be done, a site could be established in which the names of those convicted are posted on a regular basis. I think it is a great idea. Thanks.

A very good idea, I am survivor myself of domestic violence, and never reported it, happily I got out in one piece, I do understand all women that have gone through a similar situation, fear! that is stops many of us to say what is really happening.

I think it is a great idea. One tip, make sure the person has the abuse on their criminal record or at least a police report or you could be libel for slander if some one gives you false info. I posted my exes record on my site. Check it out Text
